Dr.
Bickel graduated from the Michigan State College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She then did an internship
at Colorado State University where she did Large Animal
Medicine and Emergency work. She worked at an
ambulatory large animal practice in the Finger Lakes
region of New York for
several years before deciding to return to Michigan.
Prior to starting her own practice, she was an associate
of Dr. James Irving, at Oakdale Large Animal clinic in
Homer. Her interests include lameness, laminitis, and
equine behavior. In her spare time, she works on
clicker training with her mustang.

Kathleen Timmer,
our technician, graduated in 2005 from Hobart –William
Smith College with a Bachelors in Science. She has
worked with animals in many setting, including farm and
research. Prior to accepting the position with Whole
Horse, she was part of a research team at University of
Michigan, where she worked with sheep. She also has a
passion for clicker training and is working with both
her lab puppy and her Quarter Horse yearling.


We'd like to welcome the newest edition to the Whole
Horse Family, Katie's AQHA red dun weanling, Hekili. Our
thanks to Jan and Todd Gates of Gates Performance Horses
for finding this wonderful guy!
